Dear Friends:
The family and friends of the late Fred R. “Richie” Day, Jr would like to endow a golf scholarship to Darton College in Albany, GA in his memory. We would humbly ask that you might find it within your heart to contribute to the endowment. In doing so, you would help affirm Richie’s love for life, family, and friends.
Our initial goal is $10,000, the minimum endowment required by Darton College which will provide a full years tuition to an incoming freshman student golf athlete. By initiating the scholarship though an Endowment, future contributions will not be required and each year a scholarship will be awarded fullfilling a young mans dream in RICHIE'S name. Any amount you wish to donate would be deeply appreciated and Darton will send you a letter for tax purposes.
We believe that Richie’s success as a golfer, in the classroom, and in his chosen profession of engineering was undoubtedly aided by signing a golf scholarship with Darton College in 1990. His following academic achievements at Georgia Tech (graduating third in his class and later earning a master’s degree) and career achievements stand as testimony to his making the most of the preparation he received while a student at Darton. Your contributions will help future Darton College golfers achieve their educational goals and providing them an opportunity for success in life.
We wish to help similar student-athletes in the future carry on Richie’s tradition of excellent academics coupled with a love for golf. Richie would like nothing better than to see a young person provided with the same opportunity he had to get a solid college education while playing the game he so dearly enjoyed.
Richie Day’s legacy of hard work, dedication, loyalty to friends and love of family stands as a beacon to which future generations of young people can look for inspiration. Thank you for your consideration of a loving gift in Richie’s memory.
